Susan Bensmiller has an extensive dance background spanning over 40 years. Her early training included ballet (Cecchetti and RAD), pointe, modern, jazz, and national dance. After graduating from the National Ballet's Teacher Training Program (Toronto, Ontario) Susan taught in numerous dance schools throughout Canada.  She later became Ballet Mistress for DancEast Contemporary Dance Company and principal of its affiliated school (New Brunswick).  In 1996 Susan joined the teaching faculty of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.  While in Winnipeg Susan was the Cecchetti Representative for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  From 1998 to 2006 Susan was the Senior Ballet Teacher for Penticton School of Dance and in the fall of 2006 she established Susan Paisley School of Dance (now Armstrong Dance Academy!) in the beautiful city of Armstrong.  Susan is very proud of her students that have continued to train and perform with Arts Umbrella, Victoria Academy of Ballet,  Alberta Ballet School, Goh Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, National Ballet School, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Ballet Jorgen, Toronto Dance Theatre, and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Kristi Christian  - Modern

Kristi studied ballet, pointe, modern and jazz with Susan Bensmiller in Salmon Arm in 1992 - 1996.  After graduating from high school, she enrolled in the dance program at Grant MacEwan College and received her Diploma in Modern Dance in 1998.    

Kristi moved back to the Okanagan after graduating, and has worked closely with Runaway Moon Theatre on numerous productions, as well as performed as an independant artist.

Kristi has been teaching at Armstrong Dance Academy since 2008 and loves being part of the studio!

 

 

 

Sasha ByrnesSasha Byrnes

 

Sasha Byrnes - Jazz

Sasha Byrnes has been dancing for as long as she can remember. Her passion for movement has taken her around the world dancing and teaching in different communities. Sasha believes that there’s space in dance for everyone to succeed and contribute to the art of dance. As a teacher Sasha strives to encourage student to embrace the bodies and to use them to their fullest potential. Her technical training includes R.A.D, A.D.A.P.T, Cecchetti method, C.D.T.A as well as time with contemporary training company Modus Operandi. Sasha is looking forward to another season of teaching dance at Armstrong Dance Academy!

Kendyl Foster - Tap & Jazz

Kendyl has been dancing at Armstrong Dance Academy since 2007 and has studied ballet, jazz, tap, modern.  She has performed in numerous festivals and local events, as well as on a cruise ship and  in Disneyland!  Kendyl is delighted to be able to share her passion with students!

Jolene Kutzner - Jazz

We are pleased to welcome Jolene back!  Jolene was a student at Armstrong Dance Academy before she trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for 2 years.  Upon returning from the RWB, Jolene taught ballet, jazz and modern to all ages and levels. Currently, Jolene is a dancer with On Pointe Dance Co. in Kelowna.  Jolene is thrilled to be back sharing her passion for dance!
